On board our Food Truck, from Cata la lata (the Spanish version of Taste the can) we will undertake a journey through a large part of Spain in 10 stages: from Verín to Vitoria.
Today, 10th June 2019, we started in Verín, in the province of Ourense (Galicia), with a very pleasant welcome and in the company of the General Secretary of ANFACO-CECOPESCA, Juan M. Vieites and Román Pereiro, C.E.O. of Canal Uno de Comunicación, the agency in charge of organising this campaign.
We will take advantage of this trip to promote the image of the Spanish Fish and Seafood Preserves, their nutritional values and their great versatility, as well as to present the tradition with which these preserves have been elaborated in Spain for several centuries.
We will demonstrate the ability of preserves to pair with each and every one of our different cuisines:
In each of the 10 stages, we will deploy a personalized stand in which our cook, Chema García Seijo, will elaborate in situ marriages between preserves of fish and seafood and the typical products of the land, that can form part of each tapa or complement it.
In addition, we will distribute a pocket recipe book in which you will find “10 pairings between sea and land” with which to enjoy the Spanish fish and seafood preserves.
But as it is not the same to tell it as to live it, Alberto Ribas, better known as “Al viento” (To the wind) will accompany us and will detail each of the experiences lived in his Social Networks and in his blog.
If you want to sign up for any of them, the following stages and pairings are…
- Verin. Potato of A Limia
- Benavente. Zamorano Cheese
- Leon. Iberian sausages
- Plasencia. Paprika from La Vera
- Toledo Manchego Cheese
- Guadalajara. Chickpeas
- Miranda del Ebro. Fresh cheese
- Logroño. Red Pepper
- Pamplona. Asparagus
- Vitoria. Alavesa Potato
This action is part of the campaign to promote Spanish canned fish and shellfish 2019 of the National Association of Canning Manufacturers ANFACO-CECOPESCA, and with the collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
